1999 Dear friends of Family
& Youth Advancement Services, Inc.
God has been so good to us here at the ministry of Family
& Youth Advancement Services, Inc. since this ministry began operating in December
1997.
As we approach the end of 1999 and in anticipation of the
dawn of a new millennium, I want to recap what the Lord has done through the ministry of
Family & Youth Advancement Services, Inc. In this short period of time, the Lord has
enabled us to serve Hmong and Laotian families and individuals and share the gospel of
Christ with them. 1999 has been a blessing for this ministry! Following are a list of the
activities that we praise the Lord for.
- Individuals/Group Guidance.
- Individual Guidance. We have served 11 young people who have
relationship conflicts with their parents.
- Individual/Group Guidance. We have served 5 individuals and
their families through the referral from the Hennepin County Probation Office. One of
those served is a Laotian.
- Hmong Christian Herald Newspaper is off and running. We have
published our fifth issue of the newspaper so far.
- Operation Reach Out was a success. At our first Operation
Reach Out to the Hmong community during Independence Day in St. Paul, we distributed . . .
- 125 gallons of free water to event goers
- Approx. 1000 balloons to children
- 216 Soccer balls to children and youth
- 2500 pieces of Gospel Tracts
- Office Space was donated by the Salvation Army East Side Corps
for the operation of the ministry in April.
- A Weekly Radio Program, "Suab Hmoob Ntseeg Yexus"
aired on KTIS AM 900, May 21, 1999.
- Operation Helping Hand has distributed over 35 sets of
Childcare Start-up Kits to Hmong women in St. Paul in cooperation with Vision Twin Cities.
This kit includes:
- A Highchair
- A Playpen/Crib
- A Fire Extinguisher
- A Smoke Detector
- First Aid Kit
- An Ipecac Syrup
- The creation and maintenance of our web site:
www. . This site has been browsed by people from all over the world-from
the United States and Canada to South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
- The Lord provides a Radio Studio for Broadcast Recording
- The Lord provides a larger office space and a Studio for the
ministry
- Hmong pastors' 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. At this dinner,
Hmong pastors from across all denominations come together on evening of Tuesday, November
23, 1999 fellowship and food. But more than that, we come together with the desire to band
together as brothers and colleagues ministry to reach lost Hmong souls for Jesus Christ.
- Hmong pastors and Church leaders have a desire to come
together to celebrate Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord "Twin Cities Hmong Christians
Celebrating Christ 2000" which will take place in January 8, 2000.

As we look to the new millennium, we
have great anticipation for continual growth and expansion in reaching the lost with the
gospel of Christ. As we anticipate growth and expansion, the need for additional office
spaces and personnel are also increasing. In order to be effective and efficient, we need
your partnership in this vital ministry.
Here are some ways you can be a part of this ministry:
- Commit to PRAY for Family & Youth Advancement Services,
Inc.
- Financial provision for the furtherance of the ministry
- Those who are currently involved with FYAS will be healed
relationally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
- Additional qualified staff who have a passion to reach the
lost for Christ
- Protection against the enemy-Satan's scheme to undermine the
ministry
- Health for Cher and family
- Additional office spaces
- Contribute your time and talents. Become part of this ministry
by volunteering your time at the office and/or at our events. Contact Cher at the office
of Family & Youth Advancement Services, Inc. for more information on events. We are in
need of volunteer writer(s)/researcher(s) of news and current issues affecting Hmong
families and communities nationally are around the world.
- Contribute financially to the ministry. Family & Youth
Advancement Services depends solely on your financial contributions. Without your love and
support, this ministry would not have been where we are now. Consider a monthly pledge and
giving toward this ministry regularly.
- Year-end Giving. If you are not able to contribute to this
ministry on a regular basis, would you consider a one-time giving to support the ministry?
Your one time gift of $25.00, $50.00, $100.00, $500.00, or whatever you can give can make
a big difference in the lives of those who are lost and waiting for someone to tell them
that there is hope in Jesus Christ.
